35 Vintage Hotels from An Age of Decadence

Back in the day, booking a place to stay was more like picking out a palace.
These days, hotels are pretty modest. The best hotel experience literally just means the place is safe, and quiet, and you’re not afraid to turn on a blacklight in your room. It’s such a low bar for hotels right now, that a continental breakfast is sometimes the main attraction. But these places had a higher standard than some undercooked omelets in a tinfoil tray.
Here are some of the places the one-percenters of yesteryear would stay. The exteriors look like genuine castles, the lobbies look like museums with bellhops, and the amount of marble and gold these places have will make you realize just how far the hotel industry has nosedived into mediocrity.
